Tarpon Springs is
known as the "sponge capital of the world" where Greek immigrants came to
harvest natural sponges from the sea floor. Today you'll find a community rich
in Greek history yet with a quiet charm not easily found along the busy West
Coast of Florida. When visiting the original sponge docks, enjoy shopping, and
excellent ethnic bakeries and restaurants. Many local events and concerts are
available throughout the year including annual Manatee watch.
Enjoy the beauty of the beaches of Tarpon Springs or drive
to Honeymoon Island State Park for nature hikes or to Clearwater Beaches--some
of the best beaches in the world. Golf courses including the famous Innisbrook
courses, Pinellas Bike Trail, deep sea fishing and diving are some of the area
attractions available to you. We are in an easy drive to the major Florida
attractions such as Busch Gardens, Sea World, The Florida Aquarium, Tampa Bay
Performing Arts Center, and Lowry Park Zoo. Disney World and Universal Studios
are a short distance away.
